Location
East Haddam, CT
This colonial style house was tucked quietly in the woods off of a beautiful country road. The client desired to update and expand their kitchen and incorporate a large, sunny sitting area as part of the kitchen. So, we bumped out the rear of the house and created an addition with a shed roof filled with closely spaced skylights and lots of tall narrow double hung windows. We cut into the corner of the rectangular addition to create a location for a French door leading out to a new stone terrace and hot tub. The trim of the addition was painted to match the existing trim of the house so that the addition felt original and well connected. The interior was finished in stained wood to match and the kitchen was left open to the other living areas to create good flow for entertaining and family get together’s.
