Surrounded by 120 acres of beautiful woodlands and situated on a bluff overlooking a pristine lake, this multi-purpose building blesses the camp with an inspirational space where flexibility of use was a key requirement. The camp had a very tight budget and wanted to use all of the same materials as the existing rustic buildings of which the new structure was attached. The most dramatic aspect of the design is a large stepping glass wall, which overlooks the lake. The opposite side of the hall was designed to accommodate a portable stage with support for theatrical lighting and sound. The space can be easily divided for a variety of functions, by a folding partition wall, which can also double as a display area. This memorial hall successfully balanced a limited budget with flexibility of use and moments of inspiration. (photos by Jody Dole)
