This new 100,000 square foot building consists of both undergraduate and graduate student classrooms, as well as various meeting, office and social spaces. The building was designed for optimum natural light exposure, creating a bright, friendly environment for the many student oriented gathering and study spaces. The well-crafted floor plan and vertical circulation elements create a uniquely strong connection between floors.
Exterior materials consist of slate shingles; lead coated copper gutters and rain leaders; brick veneer; precast arches, lintels, and “pickets”; and aluminum curtain walls and skylights. Interior materials consist of custom designed beech and maple ceilings, wainscots, and desks; greenstone floors and wainscots; and specially placed art glass. Great emphasis was also placed on state of the art teaching and learning technology.
