Up on a hill, with stunning views of Long Island Sound and Indian Cove, this house was in need of structural and aesthetic upgrades on the exterior and misc. aesthetic improvements on the interior. On the exterior, the three stacked balconies were structurally unsound and poorly articulated aesthetically. We addressed these issues while incorporating a new railing system where the lower balcony paneled railing provides maximum privacy considering views of the water are more hidden by neighboring homes while the upper balcony cable railing provides maximum views of the water overtop neighboring homes below. A new exterior paint scheme and simple, elegant lighting provides a classic coastal theme. On the interior, the location and quantity of new windows and glass doors increased to capture water views while new coastal style lighting, polished nickel accents, and glass door knobs were introduced. A dated fireplace aesthetic was replaced with a new fireplace vignette complete with built-in adjustable shelves, wicker panel storage cabinets, v-groove panel tv niche, and calming tile surround and hearth. The existing kitchen cabinetry was improved with new, strategically located cabinetry for expanded storage and better functionality and new backsplash tile and open corner shelving help round out the aesthetics. Lastly, a guest bath was partially renovated and a primary bath fully renovated to create two bright, fresh coastal retreats. (Photos by Caryn B. Davis)
