A small, dim kitchen was transformed into a large, bright, cheerful space by capturing the area of an underutilized exterior porch and relocating a bathroom to a new addition. Corner windows allow for an expansive connection to the side and rear yards while the style and details unify the kitchen with the home’s interior. The addition consists of a full bathroom, mudroom, and coat closet. The roof line was kept low to preserve two second floor windows which the client wanted to maintain. The exterior details are in keeping with the charming Bungalow style of the house. The addition, while diminutive, connects itself graciously with the landscape. (photos by Jody Dole)
