The foundation, framing, wood floors, doors, and several Doric style columns were all preserved as part of this 1918 colonial farmhouse redesign. The redesign features new windows, cedar shingle roofing, clapboard siding, interior and exterior trim, and wall finishes. Additions compose a kitchen, family room, master bedroom, porch, balcony, breezeway, library, and attic dormers. Modern life was blended with historical charm by including retro lighting, unique bathroom fixtures, audio and security systems, and a rich collection of natural stones, woods, and glass. The spatial layout maintains the traditional closed plan with moderately sized rooms, but the ceilings and other architectural details offer unique twists on old themes. (photos by Jody Dole)
